— by Donna Miles, Marketing Director of Walden's Photography Few things in life are Black and White. As a matter of fact, life can be complicated with challenges, changes and demands. But there is one place amidst the uncertainty where things are pure, simple and beautiful. A place that is truly Black and White. That place is love.
Use controls above to play video. When terrible things happen to us, we often wonder why. Many times, this question remains unanswered, but for me, I have found comfort in knowing my “why” has been answered. My dad was taken from our family of eight when I was a child just seven years old. As my world and security were shattered, my mom, with great faith and courage, was able to pull us through. I share this with you now because many years later, I find myself working with Tim and Beverly, drawn to the photographic industry because of the wonderful comfort provided by the pictures of my dad that my mom shared with us as we grew up into adulthood. The images reminded my brothers and sisters, as well as myself, of the many wonderful moments we had with my dad, and gave us hope that life goes on and can be happy. When Tim and Beverly asked me to do research on charities we felt we wanted to be involved in, I was drawn to Hospice’s Daniel’s Care and its program, Camp Echo, which offers bereavement services designed for the special needs of children and teens that have experienced the loss of a loved one. Deciding to support this organization has helped bring me full circle in my own search of “why”, and the families Walden’s has had the honor to photograph have been touched as well. The main mission of Daniel’s Care is to assist children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses by providing them with the highest quality care. Working with families within a 23 county radius, regardless of their ability to pay, Daniel’s Care services enable children to be at home as much as possible, allowing the families to lead a more normal life. Our “Images That Speak” program was created to provide one Daniel’s Care family per month the opportunity to visit Walden’s and to receive, at no charge, a wall-size, matted and framed Relationship Black & White portrait with their child. What a blessing this is for us as these brave families allow us to put a “face” on the Daniel’s Care mission.
