Grateful for the Stories We Get to Tell

As we begin a new year, I like to start with gratitude.

One of the greatest privileges of what I do is working with families over long periods of time and being invited to capture their most meaningful moments.

This sweet sixteen portrait is special to me, as I have photographed Lillie since she was a small child. Watching her grow and change through the years, and now creating this portrait at such an important milestone, is a reminder of how meaningful long-term relationships are in portrait photography.

One of the most rewarding parts of photographing families over time is watching them grow into a beautiful and confident young adult.

A sweet sixteen portrait marks an important transition, and being trusted to capture it feels like a natural continuation of a story that has been unfolding for years.

To Lillie and her family and to all of the families who have trusted me with their stories over the years, thank you. Thank you for allowing me into your lives, for valuing meaningful portraiture, and for giving me the opportunity to watch your children grow into remarkable young adults.

I’m grateful for each relationship and look forward to the stories still to come.

Behind the scenes.

A moment of quiet reflection.

The start of Lillie’s portrait journey many years ago with her little sister…oh the memories!

The portrait story kept unfolding through the years of childhood.
